Auckland's dedicated Spanish Language Film Festival brought to you by Freixenet, Marques De Caceres, Epic Hop Taco Beer and TORRES screening from 2nd - 30th November.

Special events include the Opening Night screening of COCO in Spanish with English Subtitles on November 2nd (The Day of the Dead / Día de Muertos), Muerte en León a 4 hour docu-series with free Torres chips to keep you going! A Tequila Cocktail night before La Tribu on Saturday 10th, A classic screening of Y Tu Mama Tambien where ticket holders will receive a complimentary EPIC beer and the closing night party screening of Holy Camp! All ticket holders will receive a glass of wine before the show.

Disney Pixar’s Coco has won over one hundred awards in film festivals around the world. Its most prominent accolades include the biggest: Best Animated Feature Film at this year’s Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards. Director Lee Unkrich is no stranger to distinction as he also has existing Academy Award and BAFTA nominations and awards for his work on Disney’s Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo.

Coco tells the story of Miguel, a young boy who dreams of becoming a musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colourful Land of the Dead and embarks on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

El Ángel

Screening as apart of the ¡Viva El Cine! Spanish Language Film Festival.

El Ángel is one of the biggest Spanish language films of the year, having screened in competition at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and being selected as the Argentine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards.

The film is based on the true story of longest-serving prisoner ever in the history of Argentina, the infamous Carlos Robledo Puch, (nicknamed “The Angel of Death”) - a teenage killer who was as merciless as he was beautiful.

As far as sisters go, Natalia (Camila Sodi) and Amanda (Mariana Treviño) don't have that much in common. Amanda is a therapist who breaks up toxic relationships while Natalia is a yoga loving free spirit. But after Amanda finds out Natalia is dating a jerk, she vows to go to any length to protect her sister. In the process of the impossible task of trying to break them up, Natalia finds herself opening-up to the unfamiliar concept of love.

Mariana Treviño (Una Ultima y Nos Vamos, Tales Of An Immoral Couple) won the Best Actress award at the 2017 Premio Canacine festival for her performance in this quirky comedy.

La Tribu won Best Film and Best Actress (Carmen Machi) at the 2018 Monte Carlo Comedy Film Festival.

Virginia, a cleaning lady with a passion for street dance, is reunited with the son she gave up for adoption. Fidel is an executive who has lost it all, including his memory after a freak accident. Together with “The Mommies”, the outlandish dance group Virginia’s classmates have formed, mother and son will discover that they may come from very different worlds, but the same rhythm runs in their veins.

When he returns, his life is ruined. Then, the former director general of the Civil Guard and his wife offer Paesa a huge reward if he will save 1,500 million pesetas of stolen public money. Paesa seizes the chance to repair his life and get some revenge against the government and enlists his friend Jesus Camoes to help him.
